The Community Services Division conducts routine programs throughout the Howell School District’s 12 schools (3 middle schools and 9 elementary schools) and the High School. On a daily basis, they educate the students on topics such as: law enforcement, drugs, safety and seasonal issues.
In addition, the Division conducts the following programs:
- Home and Business Security Surveys
- Organize tours for Boy Scouts and other community groups
- Child Identification Programs
- Instruct at local Police Academies
- Howell Police Cadet Program
The Division also acts as a liaison between different organizations and the police department including:
- Bias Crimes and Gang Activity
- Juvenile Conference Committee
- School juvenile matters
- DYFS complaints/notifications
- 180 Turning Lives Around/Domestic Violence Response Team
- Neighborhood watch meetings
- National Night Out Against Crime
- Howell Police Athletic League
Members of the Community Services Division also assist with:
- Middle School Youth Leadership Counsel
- High School Youth Leadership Counsel
- Clean Communities events
- Stranger Danger
- Bus Safety
- Opioid Epidemic
- Pal /Pals - A program designed for special needs students and their parents
- Howell Police Youth Week
